Pack Media Launches to Revolutionize Cross Country and Track & Field Coverage
By Chris Quick and Carson Vittorio
November 18, 2025
Palatine, IL — A new era of coverage for cross country and track & field is here. Pack Media, a collaborative venture between Palatine Pack Timing and Illinois Running News, is proud to announce its official launch, bringing free, high quality live streaming and on site coverage to meets across Illinois and beyond.
Pack Media’s mission is simple: to free the sports of cross country and track & field from paywalls and elevate their visibility through accessible, professional, and engaging broadcasts.
“We’ve seen too many incredible athletes and moments go unnoticed because coverage was either inaccessible or nonexistent,” said Carson Vittorio of Pack Media. “We want to change that by bringing the energy and storytelling these sports deserve to every viewer, from parents and fans to athletes and coaches.”
A cornerstone of this initiative is the “Meet of the Week Van,” a mobile studio inspired by ESPN’s College GameDay and the Dick Pond Shoemobile. The van will travel to highlighted meets each week, producing live pre-show coverage that features athlete and coach interviews, meet previews, and expert insights. Each Meet of the Week will be unique and focus on the lore of the host school, the meet, and the athletes and coaches involved.
Co-creator Chris Quick sees the new venture as an opportunity to spread positivity: “We reflected after the passing of both Al Carius and Mike Newman on how we could extend their legacies. We felt a weekly celebration of the sports they loved would be fitting. Wherever kids run for fun and personal bests, we want to be there to capture their stories.”
Each Meet of the Week will focus on interactive engagement with coaches, athletes, and spectators. From goal-setting boards, to games, to PR stickers, we want to build community and foster connections between athletes, coaches, and different generations.
Taken together, the Meets of the Week tell the story of each season by collecting the rich stories of the participants involved. Even as we explore the lore and history of our great meets, we will also witness new personal bests being achieved and new legends in the making.
“Running has always been about connection between competitors, fans, and the community,” said Carson Vittorio. “Our goal is to make those connections stronger than ever by providing access and excitement like never before.”
Meet of the Week coverage and live streams will be spread out among existing Palatine Pack Timing customers in 2026. In subsequent years, the livestreams - whether single camera or multi-camera - will be products available for any and all Palatine Pack Timing meets.
With a shared passion for innovation and community, Palatine Pack Timing and Illinois Running News are combining their expertise to redefine what coverage looks like for middle school, high school, and collegiate running.
