Our final award for our high schoolers is the Girls Runner of the Year. For the first time ever we had two athletes under 16:00 in the same season. Our girls athletes were on a different level. Enjoy voting for you top runner of the year here.
Mia Sirois (Barrington) - Sirois has had a magical season that saw her finish the season in 6th place at NXN and was only 3 seconds out of 2nd place. Mia also set the state record when she ran 15:53.4 at the State Championship. She set course records in almost every race that she ran this season. Her best performances outside of State were at the St. Charles East Leavey Invite (1st, 16:45), FTTF Invite (1st, 17:03), Palatine Invite (1st, 16:33), Loyola Flight Night (1st, 16:36), MSL Conference (1st, 16:20), Warren Regional (1st, 16:10), and Hoffman Estates Sectional (1st, 16:03). She was 2nd at NXR Midwest in 16:57.
Sunny Weber (Sandwich) - Weber during the regular season was lights out as she didn't suffer a loss until NXR Midwest. She started her year winning Detweiller at Dark in 16:32 and it culminated with a win at the 2A State Meet in 16:11. Her best performances of the year aside from State and D@D were at the Morris Early Bird (1st, 17:31), Twilight in the Woods (1st, 18:17), KRC Preview Meet (1st, 17:21), FTTF Invite (1st, 16:50), Dale Donner Invite (1st, 18:03), Naperville Twilight (1st, 16:27), Kishwaukee River Conference (1st, 17:14), Morris Regional (1st, 16:39), and Metamora Sectional (1st, 16:23 [2.94]). She was 14th at NXR Midwest in 17:40 and 19th at Foot Locker Midwest in 18:18.
Isabella Keller (St. Anthony) - Keller was the top cross country runner in 2023 and had another phenomenal season this year, but didn't have the last few weeks of the season that she wanted. She was 2nd at the IHSA 1A State Meet in 16:27 which was faster than she ran the previous year to win it. Her best performances outside of state were at the Chrisman Cowchip Classic (1st, 16:42), Tuscola Classic (1st, 17:06), Spartan Classic (1st, 15:59), Nike XC Town Twilight (4th, 17:15), Cumberland County Invite (1st, 16:31), Trojan Classic (1st, 15:39), Robinson Regional (1st, 16:50), and Cumberland Sectional (1st, 16:35). She was 25th at NXR Midwest.
Kate Foltz (Tuscola) - Foltz had a major bounce back season this year as she won the IHSA 1A State Meet in the 3rd fastest 3 mile at Detweiller ever of 15:59.4. Her best performances outside of the State Meet were at the Charleston Invite (1st, 18:08), FTTF Invite (4th, 17:30), Tuscola Invite (2nd, 17:43), Spartan Classic (2nd, 16:28), CIC Conference (1st, 16:59), Tuscola Regional (1st, 16:02), and Cumberland Sectional (2nd, 16:36). She was 10th at NXR Midwest in 17:28. She qualified for Foot Locker Nationals with her 9th place performance at Foot Locker Midwest in 17:42.
