This week is huge for our IESA contingent as all middle school fans eyes will be on IESA Sectionals. This is an interesting time of the year as some of the teams that we see have no results to date end up qualifying for the state meet. So in this preview we look breakdown each sectional based off results in the athletic.net system.
Thursday
1A Chicago (St. Helen) Sectional
Location: Legion Park; Chicago

Breakdown: On the boys side it looks like Chicago (St. Matthias), Chicago (St. Clement), and Chicago (ICSJ) to be the clear top three teams here. It will be hard seeing anyone but St. Matthias winning. Alrik Swan of St. Matthias is also the favorite to win the individual race. On the girls side the three teams look to be Chicago (St. Andrew), Chicago (St. Josaphat), and Chicago (Alphonsus). The individual to watch for here is Emma Siegrist of Chicago (St. Andrew)
2A Chicago (Frances Xavier Warde) Sectional

Breakdown: On the boys side Elmhurst Visitation enters this race as the clear favorite and the 2nd best team in the state regardless of classification. Old St. Mary's looks to be the second qualifying team and then it will be a battle between St. Francis Xavier and Niles Northridge for the third. Gavin Moffat of Chicago Latin and Jacob McKillop of Elmhurst Visitation will make this a very interesting individual race. On the girls side Chicago St. Benedict look to be a lock for the sectional champions here. St. Francis Xavier looks to be the second team. Francis Xavier Warde, Winfield Wheaton Christian, and St. John of the Cross will be battling for the third spot. Expect a 1-2 finish from St. Benedict here with Berrit Shure and Chloe Milton.
4A Vernon Hills (Hawthorn North) Sectional

Buffalo Grove Twin Groves and Barrington Station will duke it out for the final team qualifying spot. Arcangel Trujillo of Buffalo Grove Cooper looks to be the individual to watch here. On the girls side Barrington Prairie looks to be the favorite in the field while Gurnee Woodland and Barrington Station will be the second and third team from the looks of it. Ellie Ganas of Barrington Prairie and Callie Ding of Barrington Station will be battling it out for the individual win here.
4A Arlington Heights (Thomas) Sectional

On the girls side we will see a great battle between Arlington Heights Thomas, Arlington Heights South, and Mt. Prospect Lincoln for the win. Abby Denneen of Oak Park Brooks and Adelaide Galla of Arlington Heights Thomas will duke it out for the win here.
Friday 1A Mokena (St. Mary) Sectional

It will be between Joliet St. Raymond and St. George for the final team qualifier. Dylan Weimer of St. George is the individual to watch in this race. The girls side will be an extremely tight team battle as Bernardin Catholic, Mokena (St. Mary), and Joliet (St. Raymond) will all be competing for the team win. Sigel St, Michaels, Findlay Okaw Valley, and Rossville-Alvin will be fighting for the final two spots. Teammates of Effingham St. Anthony, Nora Niebrugge and Bella Schultz will be fighting for the individual win.

On the girls side Normal Epiphany, Washington St. Patrick, and Champaign St. Matthew look like the three qualifying teams heading into the meet. Taylor Short of Lincoln West Lincoln-Broadwell looks to run away with the individual title.
2A Seneca Sectional

Seneca and Kankakee Bishop McNamara look to be the other qualifying teams. Payton Pivonka of Braidwood Reed-Custer is the individual favorite.

Then for the third qualifier it could be between Williamsville, Springfield Lincoln, Quincy St. Peter, and Roxana. Teammates Retta Frey, Katie Fenton, and Morgan Greenwood of Highland will look to go 1-2-3 in this race.

Frankfort Hickory Creek is expected to be the second qualifier. Bourbonnais and New Lenox Martino will be in a tight battle for the final qualifying team. Emiliano Vieyra of Shorewood Troy and Valentin Conejo of Gompers will make this a great individual race. On the girls side Minooka is expected to dominate here. Yorkville and Shorewood Troy look to be the other two qualifying teams. Chloe Crim of Shorewood Troy is expected to win this one.

On the girls side the team race is jammed packed with Arlington Heights (St. James), Fox River Grove, Rockford Christian, Grayslake (St. Gilbert), and Palatine (St. Theresa) all having chances of qualifying for the state meet. St. James looks to be the team to watch for the win. Indvidually it will be a great race between Gianna Suvada of Arlington Heights (St. James) and Juliet Bing of Grayslake (St. Gilbert).

Princeville, Peoria St. Jude, and Morton Blessed Sacrament will be competing for the two spots. Individually it will be a great race between St. Jude teammates Eileen Hamilton and Charlotte Gould.

2A Grayslake (Prairie Park) Sectional

The top individual in the field looks to be Parker Volk of Pecatonica. On the girls side Crystal Lake Prairie Grove looks poised to dominate the sectional with Grayslake Prairie Crossing and Round Lake Park being the other two qualifying teams. Kreena Joshi of Grayslake Prairie Crossing, Zoey Ko of Crystal Lake Prairie Grove, and Blakely Domier of Round Lake Park all will be in contention for the individual win.
2A St. Joseph Sectional

St. Joseph teammates Adam Bello and Camden Fisher will be in contention for the individual win along with Charlie Sabens of Paris Mayo. On the girls side it will be a good battle between Marshall and St. Joseph. Bement looks to be the third team qualifer. Charlene Barbee of St. Joseph, Grace Thompson of Marshall, and Vivian Crawley of Bismarck-Henning all are in contention for the individual win.
2A Chillicothe Sectional

On the girls side this looks like Mossville is the favorite heading in. Elmwood looks to be second. Chillicothe and Germantown Hills will be fighting for the final team qualifier. Ava Munson of Port Byron Riverdale and Elleigh Grochowsky of Mossville will be in contention for the win.
2A Shelbyville (Moulton) Sectional

On the girls side simple dominance is on the menu for Shelbyville Moulton who expected to perfect score this meet. It will either be Hazel Atkins or Leah Shoaff who get the individual win here. Expect Litchfield, Teutopolis, Staunton, and Sullivan to compete for the other two qualifying spots.

Pleasant Plains looks to be the third qualifying team. The individual race will be a great race between Ava Driskill of Pleasant Plains and Phoebe DeFrain of Springfield Blessed Heart Sacrament.

Ethan Jenkins of Herget and Luke Borling of William F. Gurrie look to be in a good race for the individual win. On the girls side this race looks like William F. Gurrie is the favorite heading in. Expect Sandwich and Lakeview to nab the other two qualifying spots. Mia Bazon of Darien Eisenhower looks to be the favorite in the individual race here.

Breakdown: On the boys side it looks to be the Dixon Reagan show. Expect Prophetstown PLT and Winnebago to take the other two qualifying spots. Ethan Carter of Dixon Reagan looks to dominate the individual race here. On the girls side it also looks to be the Dixon Reagan show. Winnebago looks to be the second team qualifier. Oregon and Prophetstown PLT should be battling it out for the last team qualifier. The individual race should be won by Haylie Simpson of Roscoe.

Breakdown: On the boys side this race looks to dominated by Dunlap. Eureka looks like they will be the second qualifying team. El Paso-Gridley and Dunlap Valley will fight for the third team qualifier. Alex Lartz of El Paso-Gridley will be difficult to beat here. On the girls side Metamora enters as the heavy favorite. El Paso-Gridley should be the second qualifying team. Peoria Limestone Walters and Eureka will be in the mix for the third qualifying team. Evelyn Goc of Macomb looks to be the favorite in the individual race.

Breakdown: On the boys side Downs Tri-Valley looks to dominate this meet. Expect Effingham and Mt. Zion to fight for the final qualifying spot. Zac Wright of Taylorville and Liam Coon of Mt. Zion will be in a competitive race for the sectional win. On the girls side Downs Tri-Valley enters the meet as the favorite to bring home the sectional title. Mt. Zion looks to be the second qualifying team. Newton Jasper County and Tolono Unity will be duking it our for the final qualifying spot. McKenna Beck of Clinton and Jauniyah Lisanby of Tolono Unity will lock horns to determine who is the best runner in the sectional.

Breakdown: On the boys side it will be a great battle between Lake in the Hills Marlowe and Batavia Rotolo for the win. Wredling looks to be the third qualifying team here. Joseph Sittler of Lake in the Hills Marlowe enters this race as the favorite. Marlowe could go 1-2-3 here. On the girls side this is Batavia Rotolo's race to lose. Burlington Central looks to be the second qualifying team with St. Charles Thompson and Wredling duking it out for the final qualifying spot. This will be a tight battle with Caitlyn Daniel of St. Charles Thompson, Macey Jug of Sugar Grove Kaneland Harter, Hailey Romano of Burlington Central, Eme Helfer of Batavia Rotolo, and Sam Deane of Batavia Rotolo all with chances to win.

Sycamore and DeKalb Huntley are the other two teams expected to qualify. Lilly Binger of Belvidere Central looks like the favorite to win this race.

Samuel Garrison of Champaign Edison and Owen Riesberg of Morton will have a good abttle here for the sectional win. On the girls side its Morton who looks like they are poised to win this meet. Mahomet-Seymour looks to be the second qualifying team. Lorelei Hulsing of Bloomington looks to dominate the individual race.
