Top 10 Team Rankings: Week 1

Writer: Carson VittorioCarson Vittorio

A few teams kicked off their season's this past weekend and many athlete had phenominal pre-season track campaigns. Our first rankings only highlighted performances from the 2024 Track & Field season. Now we look at how those have changed with the performances we have seen so far in 2025.

3A Boys -

  1. Oak Park-River Forest [1]

  2. Edwardsville [2]

  3. Chicago (Kenwood) [3]

  4. Belleville West [4]

  5. Barrington [5]

  6. West Aurora [6]

  7. Homewood-Flossmoor [NR]

  8. Naperville (Neuqua Valley) [8]

  9. Winnetka (New Trier) [7]

  10. Crete-Monee [9]

Near the top it stays status quo with our top 6 teams. Homewood-Flossmoor moves into the rankings thanks to a stellar pre-season campaign from sophomore Zion Morrison. Neuqua Valley jumps ahead of New Trier here thanks to Daniel Robinson starting off the season strong.

3A Girls -

  1. Homewood-Flossmoor [3]

  2. Mt. Prospect [Prospect]) [2]

  3. Chicago (Whitney Young) [1]

  4. Downers Grove North [4]

  5. Chatham (Glenwood) [5]

  6. Plainfield North [7]

  7. Barrington [9]

  8. Chicago (Kenwood) [6]

  9. Chicago (St. Ignatius) [8]

  10. Kankakee [NR]

Lots of change here on this list. Homewood-Flossmoor assumes the top spot after transfer Mariyah Robinson has been granted eligibility from the IHSA. She adds at least 30 points to this Vikings squad. Prospect's sprint group has caused them to jump over Whitney Young with a great performance at the Huntley Quad. Kenwood girls depth looked a little sluggish out the gates which causes them to dip, expect them to get rolling as the season moves on. Barrington jumps up two spots thanks to Mia Sirois' 4:51 performance in the Mile at the CYUP Misfits Invite. Kankakee makes the list as Naomi Bey-Osborne ran great at the CYUP Misfits Invite and the emergence of Trinity Noble into a potential state meet scorer.

2A Boys -

  1. East St. Louis [1]

  2. Cahokia [2]

  3. Mascoutah [3]

  4. Burbank (St. Laurence) [5]

  6. Sycamore [6]

  7. Morton [7]

  8. Glen Ellyn [Glenbard South]) [10]

  9. Chicago (Payton) [8]

  10. Troy (Triad) [9]

Not many changes here with not many 2A schools competing yet. St. Laurence moves up a spot thanks to a great pre-season by Monroe Thompson. Glenbard South moves up 2 spots thanks to a great start from Kyle Quaid-Bowman and Thomas Jochum.

  7. Richton Park [Southland Prep]) [7]
