Kicking off this great weekend of coverage by Illinois Running News will be the annual Plainfield North Girls Invite! This 12 team invite looks to be an exciting kick off to the weekend.
1. Taylor McClain (Sr., Plainfield North)
The multi-time all-stater from the home school is looking to compete for her first time in over a month. She had an excellent pre-season as she ran 7.81 in the 60m and 25.26 in the 200m. All eyes will be on McClain in whatever events she ends up running here.
2. Gaby Karvelis (Sr., Naperville [Neuqua Valley])
It seems like Karvelis has knocked off the rust as she had great performances in both the LJ and TJ at the WWS Girls Invite. She jumped a new all-time PR in the LJ with her 18-10 and a great mark in the TJ of 38-0.75. Her and teammate Dalson will make the pit a must watch place to be.
3. Olivia Dalson (Jr., Naperville [Neuqua Valley])
Dalson is an extremely talented athlete and that is obvious from her 19-2 personal best in the Long Jump. On top of that, she is also a great sprinter as seen by her all-state performance in the 4x200m last year. She has already jumped over 18 feet this season and after how Karvelis jumped at WWS, she is ready to pop off something here soon.
4. Hannah Farley (Fr., Lemont)
Farley has slowly been working her way back into the Track & Field season after her phenomenal cross country season. Farley is part of a great volleyball club which causes her training to be a bit more up and down in terms of mileage around this time of year. During XC, she was 13th at the IHSA 2A State XC Meet and finished 16th at USATF Junior Nationals. She will have some great competition to run against here.
5. Sofia Arcuri (Sr., Park Ridge [Maine South])
Arcuri seems to be at the start of a career resurgence as she enters her finally year of high school competition. She ran the fastest Mile of her life to kick off her season. She had a great sophomore year, but struggled slightly as a junior. Now she looks ready to roll this season.
6. Lauren Dellangelo (Sr., Plainfield North)
Hopefully we will finally see Dellangelo make her season debut here after scratching the 55m at the Plainfield South Cupid's Arrow Invite for precautionary reasons. Last year she lost most of her season due to a foot injury. She still finished all-state in the 4x400m relay and ran 56.81 in the summer for the 400m. She has an immense amount of potential and will be looking to showcase that here.
7. Ashley Wrublik (Sr., Lemont)
Wrublik will be making her season debut after a great competitive cheer season that saw them win a state trophy. Wrublik qualified for the State Finals last year in the SP as she finished 11th and will be looking to build off that here. She has a PR over 39 feet in the SP.
8. Marlie Czarniewski (So., Plainfield North)
Czarniewski is coming off an all-state season in cross country and has brought it to the track early. She won the 800m at the Plainfield South Cupid's Arrow Meet in 2:22.24 which is impressive on that 178m track. She recently won the 3200m at the Plainfield Fr/So Meet this past Tuesday and will be looking to continue her winning streak here.
9. Lindsey Wenz (Sr., Plainfield North)
Wenz started off her season strong with a win at the Plainfield South Cupid's Arrow Invite when she won the 400m in 1:00.24. She was an all-stater in the 4x400m and 4x800m last year and will be looking for more individual glory this year.
10. Elizabeth Hall (Sr., Naperville [Neuqua Valley])
Hall would have liked a better ending to her cross country season, but will be looking to showcase her abilities once again on the track. She has already ran 5:17 this season in the 1600m and sports PRs of 5:08 in the 1600m and 10:58 in the 3200m. She is a very accomplished athlete that will be looking to make her mark.
