
The starting gun for the 2025 track and field season has officially gone off! This weekend will be the Palatine Pack Youth Invitational, the third installment of this meet at Rolling Meadows High School. Many athletes aim to perform their best and shine this weekend at this meet.
Boys
Ethan Carter
Events: 600m (1:35.00),1600m (5:30.00)
Reigning from the Dixon Distance track club, Ethan Carter is Coming off a fantastic mile from the Hoka Misfits Invite, in a time of 4:34.28. He also had quite the cross country season as he ran a 4k performance of 12:36 at the USATF National Olympic Championships. He will certainly be on the watch for the distance side as he now holds PRs of 2:11.69 in the 800m and 4:34.28 in the mile.
Abe Garcia
Event: 600m (1:35.00)
Abe Garcia, also a member of the Dixon Distance Track Club, is also coming off a quick mile at the Hoka Misfits Invite in 4:39.40. He will provide quite close competition with Carter seeing as Abe has run 2:08 in the 800m, 4:39 in the mile as well as containing a speedy sub 60 clocking in the open 400m of 57.85.
Alrik Swan
Events: 600m (1:38.00),1600m (4:49.63)
Alrik Swan, a part of the miniCRR Club, recently ran a 4:49.63 1600m and 2:11.29 800m to double at the Worril Invite on February 1st. We will see his doubling capabilities again as he is the top seed in the 1600m and the fourth seed in the 600m. His PRs at the moment are 2:08 in the 800m and 4:42 in the 1600m. This past Cross country season he was also able to run a time of 9:43 for the 3k. It's exciting to see what he will be able to pull off this Sunday.
Dylan Reigner
Events: 200m (26.21), 600m (1:36.00)
Dylan Reigner of Palatine Pack Track Club is a very key athlete to be looking for this Sunday. He is the top seed in the 200m with a blistering time of 26.21. He also shows impressive range as he holds a crazy time as he holds a 2:07 800m and 54.98 400m to his name. We could see Dylan get in there and compete with some of the top dogs in the 600m this Sunday.
Maxwell Overstreet
Event: 600m (1:44.00)
Maxwell Overstreet is a member of the Palatine Pack Track Club, who showed up at Hoka Misfits and ran 5:07 recently. He holds great PRs of 2:27 in the 800m and 4:56 in the 1600m. He is only running the 600m and it will be a huge spectacle to see how he holds on within the top dogs.
Lucas Pfoutz
Event: 600m (1:39.00)
Lucas Pfoutz, Reigning from the Palatine Pack Track Club, will also be in the mix for this 600m. He contains a 1600m PR of 4:57 as well as a 1:07 400m relay split. It will be exciting to see how he blends these two events to find a quick middle ground in this upcoming 600m.
Joseph Horos
Events: 200m (28.65), 600m (1:40.00),1600m (5:07.00)
Joseph Horos is part of the Chicago Trailblazers Track Club, and he will be showing off incredible range this weekend as he will be running the 200m, 600m, and 1600m. As for marks in these events, he can run a 28.59 in 200m to a 5:10 1600m. It will be exciting to see how he performs running these three events.
Carter Hollis
Event: 600m (1:42.80)
Carter Hollis is another member of the Palatine Pack Track Club. He will also be in contention in this 600m as he holds a sub-five minute clocking in the 1600m in 4:58.32. It will be exciting to see how he will compete with the top pack for this exciting 600m race.
Emilio Palmer
Event: 600m (1:45.00)
Emilio Palmer, yet another athlete coming from the Palatine Pack Track Club will be in the mix for this 600m race. He recently ran a 5:09 1600m this past December so it will be exciting to see how his fitness has evolved. It will also be interesting to see how he does in this 600m as he also holds a PR of 2:26 in the 800m.
Jaron Greve
Event: 1600m (5:10.00)
The final boys athlete to look out for is Jaron Greve. As another member of the Dixon Distance Track Club, it will be very exciting to see what he does in this 1600m. As of right now, he holds PRs of 2:26 in the 800m and 5:11 in the 1600m, both of these times coming from the Reagan invite on May 4th of last season. Very intriguing to think about how he can run this 1600m this Sunday.
Girls
Berrit Shure
Events: 55m (8.30), 200m (27.24), 600m (1:42.00)
Berrit Shure is also a member of the Chicago Trailblazers Track Club and will be showing some of the most impressive range at this meet. She will be competing in events of 55m to 600m as she holds a 1600m PR of 5:05 and a cross country 2 mile PR of 11:50, she ran that at the IESA state championships placing third. It will be hard to not think about the potential of such widespread abilities in the future but for now, she will be the top athlete to watch.
Chloe Wettstein
Event: 600m (1:45.19)
Chloe Wettstein, reigning from the Palatine Pack Track Club, is one of the only athletes who has a 600m race result. She ran a 1:45 600m race at the Hoka Misfits Invite this past January where she placed third. At the Hoka Misfits invite she also ran the mile in a time of 5:14 pulling off second place. She shows incredible strength over these two distances and it will be exciting to see what she can pull off this Sunday.
Hazel Atkins
Event: 600m (1:51.75)
Hazel Atkins of Shelbyville Moulton Middle School will be another athlete to look out for in the 600m. She shows promise in the 600m as she holds PRs of 1:05.44 in the 400m and 5:24 in the 1600m. She has yet to run an indoor race this season so it will be exciting to see how she opens up her season.
Abigail Kocher
Event: 600m (1:46.00)
Abigail Kocher, yet another member of the Palatine Pack Track Club will also be in attendance to mix it up in this 600m race. She ran 1:57 at this same meet last year so it will be exciting to see her progress. In that time she has progressed from a 5:57 mile all the way down to a 5:27 mile so it will be interesting to see how that translates to the 600m.
Jane Vaughan
Events: 1600m (5:20.28)
Jane Vaughan, of Pinon Track Club Elite, will be the key athlete to watch for in the 1600m as she holds the top seed time in 5:20. She holds a PR of 5:21 in the mile from the Nike Outdoor Nationals Meet this past outdoor season, where she also split a 5:19.66 though the 1600m split. She recently opened her season in A 5:33 at the Akinosun Invitational. It will be extremely anticipated to see how she performs upfront.
Madeline Serur
Event: 600m (1:42.06)
Madeline Serur of Palatine Pack Track Club is also one of the only other athletes who has a recent official 600m time. At the Hoka Misfits invite she ran 1:42.06 and took home first place. It's Gonna be a great spectacle to see how she competes against Berrit Shure upfront and if she can hold off Chloe Wettstein once again as she did a few weeks ago.
Juliana Mihalopoulos
Event: 600m (unseeded)
Juliana Mihalopoulos of Palatine Pack Track Club is a key athlete to look out for despite containing no seed time for this event. She holds quite competitive times as he has PRs of 5:32 in the 1600m and 2:38 in the 800m. It's highly anticipated what she will be able to do and how she will compete at this meet on Sunday.
Emily Melo
Events: 600m (1:52.00),1600m (5:34.10)
Emily Melo of MiniCRR is another athlete competing in the 600m, and 1600m double. She most recently ran a 5:34 at the Worrill Invitational on February first. It will be intriguing to see how she competes in both these events, especially the mile as she is the 4th seed.
Brynn Bartkus
Event: 1600m (5:28.85)
Brynn Bartkus of the Chicago Flyers Track Club is the second seed in the 1600m. Her most recent race was at the CIRCUIT Chicago meet where she ran a time of 5:34. Brynn also shows incredible strength over the 3,000-meter distance as she runs an impressive 10:53. It will be interesting to see how she runs this race, whether using her 2:38 speed endurance or her 3K aerobic strength.
Guadalupe Lopez
Events: 600m (1:52.00),1600m (5:34.00)
Guadalupe Lopez, another member of MiniCRR will also be fulfilling the 600m, 1600m double. She has practically identical seeds with her teammate, Emily Melo. It will be very interesting to see how both girls compete against one another and who comes out on top.
