Evan and Simon Thorpe are legends in the State of Illinois. Evan Thorpe was the Cross Country Coach for many years at Dixon High School where he won two trophies at the IHSA State Cross Country Meet. His 2019 team was 2nd in 2A and his 2008 team was 2A State Champions. He now is the Head Coach at Dixon Reagan Middle School for XC and Track & Field. He most recently coach Ethan Carter to a 3A XC State Title this past fall and his Reagan team was 3rd in the IESA State this year as they brought home a trophy. Evan's son Simon Thorpe is now the current Head Coach at Dixon High School as he took over in 2020 when his dad moved to the middle school level. Simon had a great high school running career at Dixon where he was a four time all-stater in cross country. That feat has only been achieved a total of 15 times in IHSA Boys Cross Country History. His team was 4th place this year at the 2A State Meet and will have a great team this upcoming year.
Back in 2007 Evan Thorpe was talking with a parent about summer running camps and Dixon starting their own team camping trip. He found Green Lake Convention Center and have been hosting their summer camp there ever since. Last year they invited Rockford Christian and Winnebago to join them and it was a massive success. This year they look to offer for the first time a camp that is available to all 7th-12th graders that wish to partake in it.
There are many Big 10 Camps that many attend over the summer, but some have now gotten up to the $700 price range. This camp is the best value for your buck that you can get and will be more athlete oriented than those camps.

Matt Logan (Young Harris College) - Director of the newly-created Track & Field + XC teams at Young Harris University in Young Harris, GA.Â
Janet Leet (Run Sub5) - 10x All-American at NC State, 1983 Kinney (Foot Locker) National Champion, member of the 1987 IAAF Gold Medal World XC Champs Team
